Anna Devane is a classy lady, but she isn’t very happy. She never laughs. Mason Capwell could
teach her a thing or two about humor. He has plenty of it. The two could meet while Police Chief
Devane is on assignment in Santa Barbara. Mason will be attracted to her but won’t readily admit it.
Sauntering over to Ms. Devane, Mason will be his ever-sarcastic self. Anna will be only slightly
amused – to the point where she almost cracks a smile. But, lo and behold, the two eventually stop
beating around the bush and begin an affair. After all, Mason didn’t forget all that Mary taught him
about love. He’s willing to give it another go if Anna is. She is willing as long as Mason doesn’t lead
her any rooftops…
