Time: Next scene at C.C.'s birthday party.

Characters: Mason, C.C. Eden, Kelly, Rosa, and Ted.

Premise: Mason is in the process of telling C.C. how he managed to get the property.

Mason: -Then it was just a matter of arranging for the auction. I knew we wouldn't have any trouble outbidding the Lockridges once that was sit up.

C.C.: Well, I think it was a damn ingenious plan and I'm proud of you for coming up with it. In fact I think this deserves more than thanks, this deserves a promotion.

Mason: (Looks surprised and happy.) Really?

C.C.: Yes, I'm going to arrange for you to become the general council of Capwell Enterprises.

Mason: Do you mean that?

C.C.: Would you like it?

Mason: Well, would I like it! I can't think of anything I would want more.

(Doorbell rings.)

Mason: Ah, more of your loyal subjects have come to pay homage.

Rosa: (Answering the door.) Eden!

Eden: Rosa!

Rosa: (Hugging Eden.) I can't believe it. Aw, you've come home!

C.C.:Eden!

Eden: Daddy!

C.C.: (He laughs and hugs her.) Oh Eden. Is it really you?

Eden: Yes it is. Happy birthday!

C.C.: Oh, thank you. It's good to have you home again.

Eden: It's wonderful to be home again.

C.C.: Oh, darling, and you look marvelous.

Eden: Well, thank you.

C.C.: Come on everyone is waiting to see you. (He leads her inside the house.) Mason, look who's here.

Eden: Hello Mason.

C.C.: Kelly!

Mason: (Hugs Eden) Hello Eden. Welcome home.

C.C.: Ted!

Eden: Thank you for your letters.

Mason: My pleasure.

C.C.: (To Ted) Come here!

Eden: How you been?

Mason: Great, wonderful.

Ted: (Bounds and swoops Eden up in a bear hug and twirls her.) Hey, hey, Eden! How's it going? (He whoops and hollers.)

(Kelly rushes over and hugs Eden as soon as Ted lets go of her. Then The three of them huddle and talk low but excitedly to each other as Rosa, Mason, and C.C. stand back and watch.)

C.C.: All right! Enough of that, she is my birthday present. (He clasps hands with Eden.) Tell me how did you get here?

Eden: Well, I was going to make this very big dramatic entrance for you. I was going to parachute onto the front lawn, but I ended up on the Lockridge's estate.

Kelly: Oh no, I bet they loved that.

Eden: (Mutters something about Warren Lockridge to Kelly.)

Kelly: Tell me about it.

C.C.: What were you doing parachuting? I mean, who would let you do that?

Eden: Well, I brought your birthday present to you.

C.C.: What?

Eden: It's a private plane made in France.

C.C.: Eden! That's incredible!

Eden: And you're very welcome. Happy birthday!

C.C.: Oh, I love you. (Hugs her again.)

Eden: I love you, too.

C.C.: (To the others.) Children, you're going to have to excuse us for a few minutes. I want to speak with Eden alone. (To Eden.) Come on.

Eden: (Smiling.) I'm coming.

Eden: You look wonderful!

C.C.: And so do you, but I want to hear what's been happening to you. You know it's been three years since you finished school.

Eden: Yeah, I know.

C.C.: And your letters were just not very informative.

Eden: I know, you know I'm a terrible letter writer though. I'm sorry, but that's just me, I hate to write.

C.C.: Okay, tell me in person.

Eden: Well-
