Capwell Connections
Video Clip: Capwell Connections
Setting: Peter's office at Capwell Enterprises

Characters: Mason, Peter, Veronica, Richard

Premise: Kelly is missing, however she spoke with Ted over the phone and told him to let
the family know she is fine and just needs some time to think. She gave Ted a phone
number where she can be reached but swore him to secrecy. When the scene begins,
Mason is at the tail end of telling Peter about what they know concerning Kelly, and then he
goes into something else.

Mason:
In the mean time, Peter, there's another matter I'd like to discuss with you. Something has
come up that disturbs me a great deal.

Peter: What's that?

Veronica: (Knocks and then enters the office). Excuse me, Mr. Flint, Mr. Capwell, would you
fellows like some coffee?

Mason: Um, no thank you, Veronica.

Peter: Not for me either. Thank you.

Mason: (To Peter) Um, excuse me. (To Veronica) Veronica, do you have any free time tonight?

Veronica: I might.

Mason: I might, too.

Veronica: Well, keep me informed on that.

Mason: I'll do that. We'll discuss it later.

Veronica: (Smiles at Mason and then leaves the room).

Mason: As I was saying Peter, something has come to my attention that I find very upsetting.

Peter: Well, you're always upset over something, Mason. What is it this time?

Mason: Augusta Lockridge knows that we looked into the beachfront property deed at the
Lockridge home.

Peter: How did she find that out?

Mason: Well, there's only one way that I can think of, Peter. Only one person knows that when I had
the house searched I examined the property deed as well. Only one Person, you.

Peter: Don't be ridiculous, Mason.

Mason: Oh, I'm not. I'm not at all. The facts pretty much add up all on their own. One, I know you
and Augusta are old friends, and two; I've always had the feeling that you weren't trustworthy.

Peter: (Stands up and looks angry). I did not tell Augusta anything about that beachfront property!

Mason: That's what I expected you to say, Peter. Now you listen to me. Getting that beachfront
property is the most important deal I've ever worked on. Professionally because Capwell Enterprises
needs that land, and privately because my father wants it. You got that! Now, if you have single
handedly fouled up this deal in anyway-

Peter: Mason, Augusta is nobody's fool. She's not going to sit at home doing her nails while you run
off with her property. She was obviously on to you from the start, without any help from me or
anyone else.

Mason: Peter, if anything goes wrong with this deal, when Kelly gets back I'm going to have to have
a little talk with her.

Peter: About what?

Mason: About her husband-to-be. About what he's really like, and where his loyalties really lay.
Now, I don't know what she'll feel about you after this little talk, and I have an ideal you may see
your dreams of marrying her fly right out the window.

Peter: Get your facts straight before you start to overreact.

Mason: Oh, I got my facts, and I got my man. If this deal doesn't go through, if I don't get that
property and get it soon, you're going to see your world crumble around you. Capwell connections,
you won't even be able to get a job teaching anywhere, not in Santa Barbara. You'll have to
relocated somewhere out of town, out of the county, and maybe even out of the state.

(There's a knock on the door.)

Peter: Yes.

Richard: (Enters the office). Oh, excuse me, Mr. Flint.

Mason: Hi Richard.

Richard: Um, your secretary's not at her desk. I just wanted to report that the presidential suite is
ready to go.

Mason: Well, that is good news. I would like it booked for me for the entire evening. Thank you,
Richard. Peter. (
Leaves the office and Peter and Richard give each other knowing looks.)

Next scene: Veronica's work area, she is at her desk, and Mason is sitting nearby.

Veronica:
Maybe nobody else wanted coffee but I sure needed a cup. I have to pry my eyes open
with all this work I got to do.

Mason: Would you be willing to take on a little more?

Veronica: I get the feeling by the way you're looking at me, I'm going to find it very hard to say no.

Mason: First business. I'm having some bankers in tonight to discuss the Lockridge property. We're
meeting at the presidential suite at the Capwell Hotel and I'm desperate for somebody to take notes.

Veronica: All right. (Smiles at him).Veronica: All right. (Smiles at him).

Mason: (Smiles back). Good. And then after business...well, you know what comes after business.
