Setting: Peter's office at Capwell Enterprises
Characters: Mason, Veronica, and Peter
(Mason enters the office where Veronica is inside alone. He closes the door behind him.)
Mason: Veronica, I was told you were looking for me.
Veronica: Yes Mason, I did want to see you.
Mason: I'm glad to hear that.
Veronica: I wanted to thank you for last night.
Mason: Mm, you're welcome.
Veronica: And I also wanted to apologize for bringing up Lionel Lockridge. I had no idea you felt so
strongly about him.
Mason: Well, half a century of feuding has done that to our families, but not to worry. (He goes
around Peter's desk and sits in his chair).
Veronica: Still, I felt badly. (The door opens and Peter walks in.) I just didn't know. Can I get you
some coffee?
Mason: No, I'm fine.
Peter: Well hello. Conferencing here are we?
Mason: Peter, do come in. (He remains seated in Peter's chair behind his desk looking right at
home.)
Peter: (Peter is looking pretty agitated). Well, I don't mind if I do, since this is my office. Am I
interrupting anything?
Veronica: No, just a chat.
Peter: Oh, a little chat, huh? Well I would like to have a chat with Mason myself. Do you mind?
Veronica: Oh. No. I have some errands. (She exits the office).
Mason: Well, Peter, what can I do for you now that we're all alone?
Peter: It's Joe Perkins!
Mason: Oh, he's getting under all of our skins, isn't he?
Peter: Yeah, well, he sure as hell getting under mine. If you have legal power in this community, you
could do something.
Mason: What happened to you Peter?
Peter: What?
Mason: Your face? You got into a fight?
Peter: Yeah, he hit me. It's not enough he's after my fiancéée. He slugged me.
Mason: (Rises out of the chair and raises his voice). Peter, you didn't call the police? That was our
chance.
Peter: Kelly talked me out of it.
Mason: (Exhales loudly).
Peter: See what I mean? She's protecting him. He's controlling her, Mason.
Mason: I'd say you have a problem here.
Peter: Yeah, we were on the yacht last night. She snuck off somehow. She didn't go to work. She
didn't go home. Now I can't find her anywhere. I'm losing her, Mason. I'm losing her to Joe Perkins.
Mason: Yeah, well it's clear you're not strong enough to take care of it yourself. It appears that Joe
Perkins has gotten the better of you, Peter.
Peter: Mason, forget about me! What about Kelly?
