| Setting: The Capwell Home Characters: Mason, Lionel, and Augusta Next Scene: Later that evening the phone rings and Mason answers Mason: Yes. Lionel: (From his living room with August standing behind him). Hello, this is Lionel Lockridge speaking. Who is this? Mason: This is Mason Capwell. What can I do for you? Lionel: I would like to pay you a call, Mr. Capwell. Mason: Here? Lionel: That's right. I believe that my daughter is visiting your house. Mason: Yeah, she's here. Lionel: Well, I don't think she should be spending the night there. And I'm sure you'll agree with that. Mason: Well, she seems to prefer our house to her own at the moment. Augusta: Let me speak. Lionel: She's only a minor, Mr. Capwell, and what she prefers or not prefers is only a fleeting interest to me at this point. Mason: Well, that may well be, but as long as she is here, she's welcomed to stay. Augusta: I have something to say to him. (Takes the phone receiver from Lionel). Mr. Capwell, it may be an interest to you to know that your son has been seeing my daughter, on the sly in Los Angeles. Mason: (Chuckles) Well, it may be an interest to you, Mrs. Lockridge, to know that first of all that Ted is not my son but my brother, and second of all, I'm not the least bit interested in his sex life. Lionel: (Taking the phone back from Augusta). Listen Mason, I don't care for all this pitter patter, back and forth, you know that, I want my daughter, and I intend to come and get her. Mason: Well, you can do as you wish, but I personally wouldn't advise that. Lionel: I'll be there shortly. |
