You Work for Me
Video Clip: You Work for Me
Setting: Mason's office at the courthouse

Characters: Mason and C.C.

Premise: When C.C. called Mason's office, Mason had his secretary, Sarah, lie and say that
he couldn't take the call because he was in a meeting. C.C., not liking being put off like
that, pays Mason I visit persona

C.C.:
(Standing in front of Mason's desk) You don't blow me off because of some business
meeting. Damn it, Mason, When I call I expect you to take the call. Now, you work here in the
courthouse, but you also work for me.

Mason: (Seated at his desk). Dad, I'm sorry I didn't get the message that you'd called.

C.C.: What kind of office is this?

Mason: Well, my staff is usually very efficient but they're a little short handed right now.

C.C.: Well, never mind. (Sits down) I have more important things to talk about. Mason, it's time to
buy the Lockridge beachfront property.

Mason: Dad, I know. I've been looking into it.

C.C.: They're hurting for money. It's a buyer's market, and I think we can get it for a song.

Mason: I think I've figured out a way to do just that.

C.C.: You're confident about that.

Mason: (Stands up). Yes. If you let me handle it, I know I can pull it off, but you have to let me do it
my way.

C.C.: I'd like nothing better. If you can get that property, that would make me very proud. That's
prime frontage.

Mason: I can get it.

C.C.: (Stands up). Mason, don't make any promises that you can't keep. There is nothing worse
than a man who falls short on his promises.

Mason: I'll get the property. I promise. Hold me to it. (Walks around to front of the desk). Dad,
there's another thing I want to talk to you about. Glad you're here.

C.C.: All right.

Mason: It's Cruz Castillo that's got me worried.

C.C.: Why Cruz?

Mason: He, uh, doesn't want to come onboard with Capwell Enterprises full time, wants to remain
just a consultant.

C.C.: I know, but I don't think that's a problem.

Mason: Maybe. But he's also a major fan of Joe Perkins.

C.C.: I know. I've already talked to him about that.

Mason: Dad, how can you let him have run of the house, and the stables? He acts like he owns the
place.

C.C.: He has his own place now.

Mason: Well, then, let's cut him loose.

C.C.: (Shakes his head). I can't. I can't forget what he has done for us. Mason, he bailed me out of
a horrendous situation. He risked his own life. I don't care who his friends are. I can't cut him loose.

Mason: He seems to take pleasure in flaunting his friendship with Perkins.

C.C.: That's his style. He's fiery. He's independent. He speaks his own mind. In a way, I admire him
for it. He's a loner. Lots of men who fought their way to the top are like that.

Mason: Well, I admire his courage on the rig, but I don't admire his audacity.

C.C.: Mason, our problem isn't Cruz. It's Joe Perkins.
