If I Had My Way
Video Clip: If I Had My Way
Setting: In front of the Capwell mansion's enormous front door.
Characters: Mason, Cruz, and Santana
Premise: Kelly comes home upset after a confrontation with Joe Perkins.
Mason tried to get her to open up about it but she didn't say much. As Kelly
runs out the front door with Mason at her heels, Cruz and Santana are entering.
Mason stops Cruz to talk with him.
Mason: Your friend Perkins is in a lot of trouble, Cruz.
Cruz: It seems to me that people look for trouble when it comes
to Joe.
Mason: They don't have to look far.
Cruz: Maybe they would be better off minding their own business.
Mason: You know, Cruz, my father may have indulged you because you saved his
oilrig, but as far as I'm concern, you were just doing your job.
Cruz: And I won't expect any indulges from you?
Mason: No, and this heroic defense of your friend tends to grow thin after a while.
Cruz: You know, Mason, a lot of people find you stuffy, not me, though. I find you boring.
Mason: If I had my way, you wouldn't find me at all.
Cruz: It can be arranged.
Mason: See to it. (Pause) Well, if you'll excuse me? I have to get down to the station.
I'm having your friend bought in for questioning.
